It's no Eotech, but it works well. Can always put a mini Red Dot on top (ie MRDS or Doctor Optic).

Hey, how well does the elcan specterdr 1-4x work at cqb distances compared to say an eotech or aimpoint/other sights of that nature? Is the Elcan comparable to those kind of sights as far as time to go from "low ready" to "on target" goes? Also, i've tried some 1-4x scopes in the past (meopta zd, swfa ss 1-4, and vortex viper pst), and whenever I would go from "low ready" to "on target" I would have problems with distortion on the edges of the sight on all of those except the viper, does the Elcan have less distortion on the edges of the sight picture? I have an eotech hhs1 hybrid right now (eotech exps3-4 w/ g33 3.25x mag), and I like to be able to make as fast a shot as possible up close but still have some intermediate range capability, should I stick with the hhs1 or would the elcan be worth a try??

My subjective assessment would be that the SpecterDR is about 80% as fast and easy to use in close range engagements as an EOTech.

It's noticeably not as fast or easy, but that's honestly because IMHO, the EOTech is so well designed and works so well in that role.

I have not noticed much distortion in the ELCAN's FOV, which I would guess (but do not know) has to do with it being a prism based, not a tube based scope.

Understand that you do most certainly give up something in close-in engagements with the ELCAN compared to an RDS - the decision as to whether it's worth what you gain for mid and long range engagements is up to you, and will depend largely on how much you shoot to those distances compared to close-range shooting, and how important they are.
