im speaking of the small hole on the right side of an AR lower.
is it a drain hole or a vent for the front takedown pin spring and detent ??

put a couple of drops of your favorite gun oil in the hole. will not hurt a thing.

Not much you need to lube on the lower, trigger and maybe the bolt release every so often.

As I recall, GI manuals show putting a drop of CLP in the hole to lubricate the assembly.

There's a small needle tool that goes in that hole where it's suppose to hold down the detent spring so you can easily install or take out the pivot pin.
