a friend of mine recently brought his Armalite M4A2 to me with a jamming problem. everytime i fire 3-5 rounds quickly it would double feed and jam (somtimes it just wouldn't load). my initial thought was a bad mag. so i replaced it with a brand new Cproducts mag and the same thing happened. i talked to a local sporting goods store and he suggested that it was the distance between the uppper and lower reciever. (although he didn't do a very good job convincing me this was the problem and still don't think it is). its a factory rifle and the gap between the two is minimal probly around 1/32 to 1/64. not sure where to turn next on this one. any suggestions?

More likely extractor/dirty chamber related problems.  Carbines extract while pressure is still high in the chamber.  The extractor my not be holding onto the shell well enough to completely extract it, and it drops off the bolt face before it is fully retracted, and can clear the ejection port.

This problem can be made worse when the chamber is dirty.  Steel cased ammo tends to leave more fowling in the chamber because the cases don't expand as much.   If you switch back to softer brass cases they expand more and stick a bit more in the chamber.
