I have zero experience with Double Star, but will offer an opinion

If you have any notion of selling the gun on the future, get a mare recognizable named lower like Bushmaster, RRA, Colt, or perhaps Noveske, Global Tactical, or LMT

This will jack the value of your build by more than the difference in price you will pay.

But I am sure DS lowers are fine, if thats the way you want to go.

Are you building your first AR15?

If so, I'd hang out at the "Build it Yourself" forum for a few hours and read up on what the other guys are doing (especially the tacked threads)

Good luck, and welcome aboard!!

I have 2 Doublestar lowers.  They work just fine, and the finish looks quite good, just a little lighter in shade than the CMT upper I used one of them with.  I would have no quams about using them again if I need another lower.

I have two Doublestar/J&T AR-15s in the safe.  One is mine, the other is for my cousin.

This is the lower I put together for myself:

and the final rifle:

For giggles, I have slapped both a Bushmaster and POF carbine on the doublestar lowers, and they ran fine.  Although fit and finish are secondary to me, it appears to be about as good as it gets.

I would snap a photo of my cousin's AR-15 but it looks identicle to mine, except he has a Samco grip on his.

J&T have been around forever.

They make good stuff and they are good people.
