is there a way to tweak the direction my brass is being ejected. i've got one rifle that ejects at about 4-5 o'clock and i'd rather have it eject at 2 or 3 o'clock.
it's not that big of a deal, i won't go to great lengths to change it but if there is a easy fix i'd love to hear it. thanks |

you a south paw?You might look into a buffer or catcher for the brass to bounce on or into otherwise 4-5 o'clock is poifect. i'm a righty. a brass catcher may be what i need. that's the main reason i want to alter my ejection direction, to make it easier to pick up brass where i shoot. no biggie. |

You could try clipping a couple coils off your ejector spring. It might take some trial and error, so have a spare on hand, but if you trim it right you can have your brass dumped in a neat pile pretty close to you. I did it to the rifle I used in highpower competition to keep my brass from hitting the people next to me on the line, and it made it so easy to find that I did it to my M4gery as well. Now when I shoot an AR without the trimmed spring I'm shocked at how far the brass flies. |

That's pretty consistent with the graphic provided above. It makes sense that 5.56mm may be operating at a bit higher pressure and/or with a bit higher port pressure than the average .223 load intended for a slightly tighter chamber with a shorter leade than a 5.56mm chamber.
Depends on ammo for me. When I use 5.56 it ejects like at 2, the 5.56 tends to bounce of the defector & go forward. When I use .223 ammo it ejects at like 4. My 3 AR's are this way. F/A BCG's Spikes T2 buffers. |

Interesting. I'd never given much thought to it as long as the empty brass gets out of the way. According to that chart; my middy is overgassed. I'm using a Daniel Defense heavy T2 buffer in it already. At least the brass flying out looks cool though!
