| I just bought an eotech 512 off of the ee and I don't have it yet its a 2008 model revision f. I was wondering if the 2008 model was the same as the newer models that have an updated battery compartment and a cutout for the delta ring and handguards I tried searching and found one post saying they changed it in 2010 or 2011. I also heard stories about the older models draining batteries when turned off and having a grainy display is mine going to be gtg being a rev f? |

After looking at pics of the one I'm getting it looks like the only difference is it doesn't have the cutout under the battery compartment I think the electronics are the same as the newer ones. I should have room for my mbus behind it right? Can we get a pic ? I've never seen this. I had an ancient 512 and had a magnifier and rear sight behind it by floating the battery compartment out over the rail. |

Sure do I should have posted them before to be more clear what I meant.
This is how they used to make them. (Like mine) http://i1334.photobucket.com/albums/w655/jsmoker6937/453878_zpsa91acb12.jpg This is how they make them now. (The battery compartment doesn't attach to the rail) http://i1334.photobucket.com/albums/w655/jsmoker6937/10062830_zps017f4007.jpg What I was asking about the buis was if it would fit on the upper receiver behind the eotech. Once I got the sight I found out it doesn't matter either way because my moe handguards actually have flats cut into the sides of the top just where it meets the receiver so I can move it as far up as I want to. You can kind of see the flats cut out on this pic I can move it up to where the mounting bolt goes through the last slot on the upper rail and the sight doesn't touch my handguards. http://i1334.photobucket.com/albums/w655/jsmoker6937/20130922_004145_zps6f82675f.jpg |
| I tried putting it more forward on the rail but I liked it better closer to my eye. People will tell you not to bridge the gap between your upper and rail but as long as your rail mounts up solid and is on straight it shouldn't hurt anything. I like it in closer because it gives me more room to not have a perfect cheek weld with it and I see less of the frame and more through the window, that's just my opinion. If you have a magnifier and a rear sight then you really don't have a choice. |
