Buddy wants to sell me his 553 are they any  good. How much would be fair for a like new one?

Good enough to be included in the SOPMOD kit...  Whether or not that equates to "any good" for you is anyone's guess.

They're older tech than the XPS series, for a used, but like new, they tend to go in the $500-ish and below range.

KillerB6,

Have you ever posted a larger photo of that carbine anywhere?  I don't think I've seen one, do you think you could post one?

Thanks,

I picked up a like new one with original box, manual and paperwork for $465.  A buddy "deal" should do you right.  The only negative I have heard about the 553 is the battery terminals may need to be replaced as they had had issues with them due to the batteries being mounted "with" the recoil.  Eotech makes a kit you can install at home or mail your unit into them to do it.

LOL, I meant to post on this thread about my used 553 recent purchase, to ask where to find the date.

I posted on another thread about a 553 regarding position by mistake and they must have thought I was wasted

Got my answer in spite of everyone thinking I am nuts.

However, mine is a September 2006. they mentioned that these had a problem with the batteries and recoil and L3 made a kit to correct it or you could send it to them.

Mine exhibited no such problem with a 100 round torture test last Wednesday so perhaps the mod was already done???
Anyone have a 1-800 contact for L3?

Would not hurt to check

I've ran my 553 on a full time entry rifle for almost 2 years!  Zero issues with anything...they're good to go!
