can the eotech be mounted directly to the rail?

what is the reason for the extra rails on buis such as the dominator made by rra?

I believe it has to do with how the eotech co-witnesses with the front and rear sights.

The eotech will mount right to the rail. Be careful not to strip the screw head out when your installing it. The Larue and RRA risers allow for a different co-witness. I believe both put the irons in the lower third. The Larue, which is a QD mount, will also allow you to take the Eotech off the rifle quicker.
