Going to build my first complete A2 lower to go along with a 20" psa upper I have on order.
I'm sorry if its been asked before, but what are the essential lower build tools that I need? I would like to know everything I should buy to do it right and do it without scratching up my lower. Please list what is optional as well Thanks! |

Nothing is really essential in an a lower build. There are tricks and work arounds for every step of the build, vise grips for example. Search the web and you will find tutorials and videos showing how to build it. Now I'm sure you've already done this. You can keep from scratching your lower by using heavy tape to protect the finish, and most of all don't go Rambo on it if something doesn't go as expected. Use common sense and take your time. If you want to make your life easier and spend some money, you can buy a set of roll pin punches, a set of starter punches, and a pivot pin tool. That's about all you really need that you don't have in your tool box already, assuming you have a tool box. It really isn't that hard. I did my first in an hr. and I really milked it. |
| I assembled two lowers for the first time this weekend and only used a pair of large channel locks for the roll pins and castle nut. i wrapped electrical tape neatly around the jaws and took my time. I used a small pair of needle nose pliers for the pivot pin detent and spring. Take your time, pay attention open only one bad of your lpk at a time and you will be fine. |

Most of us have gotten by without these particular sets, but a friend picked up the first set when they came out and they were actually quality stuff that made life a little easier when you get a few of your tools at a one-stop-shop. I'm on the verge of getting both sets for myself, just because I'm a tool junkie, and I like having the right tool for the job whatever it is. |
