I just had my "Bushy" A2 out.  Over a year ago it got replaced by my midlength as my primary AR, but man I loved this carbine.  It wasn't always like that though, I kept a photo record of the changes she went through

Here she was after I traded a perfectly functional surplus M1 carbine for her... I was poor back then.  The only actual Bushmaster part was the lower... no name LPK, model one 10" upper with ridiculous permanent flash hider.  My experience with ARs was Army and I thought that they just worked.  With this I couldn't make it through a mag without getting a FTE... cleaning rod needed to clear it every time.  Of course that red dot was a joke!  Lesson learned.  All ready for the S to HTF, I think NOT.

Here she is after the sunset, I was so proud.  I replaced the bolt with a CMT and I could get through a mag without a jam.  At that point I noticed other issues the trigger pin walked out... seems the gun show guy that I paid $50 to put it together didn't know what he was doing.  The Stock is  Leapers which actually laster for a good while.  The Handguards are Colt double heat shield that someone gave me.

Here she is when I replaced all of the lower parts and Furniture with genuine Armalite parts.  Worked decently but man that 10" was freaking LOUD.

After I was able to save for a complete Bushmaster upper.   The Glock 21 has been replaced by an OD17 and I have a lot more mags and ammo.  Works like a champ.

Here she is in current dress (except for an IDF sling) this is Sept 2005, I know cause this is right after Katrina...and I made the final addition... getting off my but and finding a way to put a light on I like.

Nice.  Went from scary to SHTF-worthy.

http://www.everycitizenasoldier.org/ is an excellent site, as well.  Thanks.

ETA:  it's a solid gun as-is, but have you considered throwing a used Aimpoint M68 on the carry handle?  Or swapping it out for a flat-top upper?

There is something about an A2. It's like that lady in the tight fitting blouse. You know the one.

I have a flat top with EO512 as my "go-to" AR now.  I prefer to have one bare bones also.

Glad you like the site.
