[ARCHIVED THREAD] - extractor question

my bro just bought an ar, there is no insert in the extractor, just a spring, should i get an upgrade or would an oring suffice. he is having slight reliability issues im sure was due to this and the fact that it was REALLLY dirty. got it clean, now just need to fix the ext. thanx guys.

i looked at that but the shipping is more than the part, i may call them and see if they can just stick it in an envelope

Home Depot or Lowes - #60 O-ring. $0.80 I think. Works like a charm.

First get an insert,then add the oring until you get an x power spring then take the oring out..oh yea get a black extractor insert.
