I just bought one from optics planet, it's in the mail. Heard it was exactly like the Doctor sight with much better price.

i have used one on a pistol, it is very clear and the dot is a good size for anything with in 50 to even 100 yards.  i know they are built pretty well to.  i was thinking about getting the iron dot with the fastfire.

I had one in the LaRue mount, known as the LaRue Iron-Dot and loved it.  Very lightweight and yet rudded.  It is supposed to be a "very good" copy of the Docter but I do not have a Docter in my possession for an accurate comparison.  I sold the Iron-Dot/Fast Fire to finance another project so I am down to only one.  The one I have left is custom mounted on my FN FiveseveN carry gun.  To test out battery life I have left it turned on 24/7 and it is going strong at 10 months so far.  Burris says the battery will last 4 years left on 24/7 so we will see.  I will change the battery at 3 years just to be sure if it is still going at that point.

I mounted one on a Glock 19 and I'm not impressed. I've gotten some wicked runs on steel plates with it but IMO so far, that's it's specialty. I don't care for the degree of flare on the dot compared to Aimpoints and EOTech's which cost far more of course. Maybe I'd like it more on a close range carbine. On the handgun, I find it takes too much "hunting" to get the dot visible in the field of view before the fun can start. So on a handgun, I relegate it to a game tool. YMMV
