finally bought a lower receiver for my father that i promised him fro christmas.
got it from aero precision for $200, but with the pending legislation to completely ban ARs in MA, i didn't want to wait until prices died down.
when it comes in i can put the LPK together and slap on the M4 upper from PSA he bought during black friday.  Wont be a bad rifle for under &700

Did you get a BCG/CH with the upper? What about a stock and extension/buffer/spring? If you somehow managed all that for $700 I'd be pretty impressed.

ANDROTAZ, sorry for the slow reply, yes I got everything for the rifle for under $700 (everything was bought before the market went nuts).  Upper was 250 from PSA w/o BCG/charging handle.  BCG was 130, CH 15, had an extra carry handle sight, LPK was 60, had a RE/stock/buffer laying around. All said and done it was right around 680 with shipping/tax on all the parts

What pending legislation are you referring to?  I wasn't aware of any in MA that was going to ban AR-15s.

So if MA completely bans ARs what is the point of building it to begin with? Are you going to move or just become an outlaw?

Deval Patrick (Gov) proposed legislation nearly identical to the new laws that NY signed into law a month or so ago.  The law bans any NEW AR with at least 1 evil feature (different than our existing AWB law of at least 2 evil features), as well as making us dispose of our 30 rd preban mags and only loading our 10rd mags to 7 rds.  So if I build an AR now, it will be grandfathered in, while all new ARs will be banned from coming into the state after (if) the law is signed.

As for pics, it will be a couple weeks before the lower is in, My FFL is on vacation.  However I've already mounted the upper on my own lower and it shoots great.  I'll post pics when the lower comes in.

I didn't see anything in the proposed legislation that said they were going from two features to one feature like NY.  I checked the text of the proposal again and do not see where that is stated.  I've been waiting for the prices of the lowers to come down but if they are proposing to go from two features to one I'd buy an overpriced lower now.  Can you point me to where it says they are going to one feature? Thanks

I am now questioning myself on whether or not the proposed legislation will change the number of evil features to be considered an assault weapon from two to one.  I am almost positive I read it somewhere in the law, but after searching I cannot find it.  Apparently, the people over at GOAL thought the same thing when they stated the new legislation would be "A complete ban on semi-automatic rifles with certain cosmetic features. (AR type rifles)" seen HERE on the 4th bullet point down.

I could just be missing it in the new legislation text, I'm not good at lawyer-speak and all they have to do to change the laws from current to no AR rifles would be to change the word "two" to the word "one" where it lists the features that make an assault weapon illegal.  This could be done in the legislation in one sentence and I would probably never find it.
