Sporter HBAR lower, m4 upper.

Question is what is the block inside the lower receiver that says Colt on top? behind the fire-group.

Auto sear block. Does not allow the install of any type of auto sear. Stupid thing that only Colt did.

Also, with 9K post, were have you been hiding?

That is to keep you from using a M16 bolt carrier. Thanks a lot Colt, huh? I had a few like that and they are fine as long as you don't want to use the heavier "closed tail" carriers.

Thought so, but to be honest, I've rarely posted or been in the AR forum all these years, only asked for help with builds not involving Colt products.

Thanks, this was my next question as I want to find one, have used them before (m16 BCGs).
My next question is, my lower is the same as this one:

Were these a part of 20" builds when shipped?  Or did any of these go out with 16" uppers?

Not a Colt guru by any means but I think the "Match HBAR" marked sporters were all fixed stock 20" rifles.

wrong, not all were 20 inches. some had 16 inch barrels. like the MT6731 for instance. OP   we need the serial number to know what mode it was. doesit has  match HBAR, compettion HBAR,  HBAR II or something like that?

sweet, I may have an all original colt then, pretty sure it has SPORTER, below that Match HBAR.

I'll look at it again when I get home.  My guess though is it's not original config.  The barrel is a Colt (C) 14.5 M4 HBAR 1/7 (it's a thicker looking M4 barrel than what I've seen on the other Colts).  It has a perm attached YHM.  I'm guessing Colt never shipped something like this (a 14.5 with a perm attached longer FH).
