just finished my first build...and my first AR.. got a C.A.R. 15 kit from jtdistributing, my only regret with this is i got the chrome moly barrel, i can always switch that out later....Right?, My only problems with the build were the front pivot pin spring and detent, and the hammer/trigger assembly..those were a real bitch to get in, the upper and lower fit together nicely..used a lauer custom lower, only a very small gap between the upper and lower at the rear...millimeters...very little light showing..still waiting on a highrise trirail/rear sight from DPMS, last e-mail said i should expect it monday, also waiting on some mags and sling from cheaper than dirt. i will take it to the range on Wed. and then post a range report....also cheaped out on the optics...wally world special BSA red dot...(just coming outta divorce...very low budget here).......can't wait to shoot it...

You can switch out the barrel, but it's not an easy task.

the local smith treats me real good...sure i could get help there, but it would be a while before that anyway...they said the normal service life of a chromemoly barrel is 10-15,000 rounds...is that true.

Unless you buy roughly $50 worth of tools, then it becomes very easy.
