I have recently caught a case of AR mania and I've learned a lot by lurking. I have decided to throw together an A2 20" 6.8 SPC but I have a few questions I haven't found the answers to yet.

First of all. I think it is important to stay out of prison so I can get to the range more often:
Does the lower legally have to be marked with the caliber?

It seems that I read somewhere that 3-round burst select fire was legal, but I have not been able to find anything more about it. Useless, but if legal, it would be a fun at the range.

Trying to keep costs down, anyone know a of a dealer in N Texas who stocks 6.8 SPC receivers? I could get the Stag from several sources online, but if I could avoid the shipping and FFL transfer fee, that would be enough to buy a set of reloading dies.

I dont know about the other stuff but 3 round burst IS ILLEGAL unless proper paperwork has been completed

Welcome to the boards:

I don't know who makes 20" 6.8SPC barrels but CMMG might.
You should be able to run your lower with any marking in TX.  You can double check in the hometown forum.
Burst is obviously illegal unless you own a M16 lower.  No amount of paperwork will make a AR15 lower legal with burst fire.
