ive had alot of people recommend the 16x super sniper scope, i see they have an ior scope in 16x, is the ior worth the extra money ? i dont mind putting out the extra if the glass quality is there. i have a 2.5-10 ior i like the glass, but i never looked threw the super sniper, and i need opinions from people who looked threw both scopes.

I have 3 Super Sniper 10x scopes. I run them on an M1A, FN Patrol Bolt and Savage 10. I also have a Leupold MK 4 8.5-25x on a Savage 10. Never played with IOR.
The Leupold is great, but the Super Snipers are pretty good. For 300 dollars I think you couldnt go wrong, Ive only used them out to 300 yards though. What kind of rifle will you be mounting to and how far out do you plan on shooting? Personally I would stick with 10x unless you go with a variable optic. |
| I have a 10xSS also. It's hands down the best scope in it's price range. That said, you really shouldn't be comparing a $1k scope with a $300 scope (assuming thats what the IOR is going for). I can't justify spending that coin on a scope but if you can all the power to you. I'm sure the IOR will be the better scope. |

its going on a remington 700 stainless special 5-r 24 inch barrel .308 win. milspec barrel with 11 1/4 twist. i figure out to 600yrds for now. That's a very nice rifle and to get the full potential out of it I'd definitely look at a higher end scope; Something closer to $1k would likely be a better match. Of course you can find some great scopes for $700 or so but I'd seriously consider expanding your search unless you're strapped for cash and plan on upgrading in the near future. The SS is a good scope, one of the best for the money, though I'd want more than 10x for 600yds. I prefer 3x-4x per 100yds for target shooting. Check out some Burris XTR, Leupold, Bushnell Elite 4200 or higher @ SWFA. |
