I am planning to free float my 14.5. midlength barrel with a pinned flash hidder.  I was wondering what length forarm I would need to cover the gas block.  I think rifle length may look a bit weird with a short barrel and was wondering if specter length would do the job.  I'm looking at getting a YHM diamond series forarm.  Any idea or pictures would be appreciated.

Thanks

Yes specter length will cover the gas block.  I didn't notice you'd said it was a midlength.  You'll have to have the flash hider removed and re-installed to get the rail on though.  Other option is to cut down the front sight base to a low profile and then use a forearm that uses the factory barrel nut.  Troy and DD both make free floats that use the factory barrrel nut.

OK that will work.  I'm planning to remove the pinned flash hidder and also remove the gas block.  Specter just seems to short to actually cover it at 9.675".  Looks like rifle length.  Anyone have any pics of a 14.5 barrel with a rifle length forearm?
