going to purchase an upper and want a free float handguard. can't decide between daniel defense or larue . which one and why? upper is rra .

I asked the same question about two months ago. I ended up going with the Larue for no other reason than I found it cheaper at the time. I am very happy with mine, but both are high quality products. I don't believe you could go wrong with either choice. If weight is an issue for you it might be better for you to look at the DD. It sounds like you have narrowed things down but if you have not seen it yet this link has some very helpful information.

I made my choice based off quality and weight, so it went to Daniel Defense.  If you factor their new Lite rail into things, its not even a choice in my mind, its DD all the way.  

Their new Lite rails aren't cheap, but they are outstanding.

You won't go wrong with either the DD or LaRue they are both high quality products.

I picked the LaRue for myself because of it's locking device design which prevents the tube from getting loose and ease of installation (I installed it myself using my action block and FF installation wrench).

The new DD Lite rail models have a similar locking device design but cost more than the LaRue.
