Is the fixed front sight visible in the field of view of a 4X power scope mounted to a 20" bbl? what about a 16" bbl?

Edited to add that this is on a flat top upper.

No replies? I did a search for this subject on this forum and the optics forum and I didn't come up with anything. The guys that i know here in Oregon with AR's just shoot irons and they don't know either.

I have a 4x on a mid-length 16" and can't see the front sight at all.

I tried to simulate the same thing with a 3-9x (at 3x & 4x) and got it to show up some.  Difference in scope quality?  Or how I was doing it?

Short answer: It's a non-issue.

The barrel length is irrelevant - the determining factor is the scope's magnification.
At 3X and above the most you'd ever see of the front sight is a gray blur and even then only if you're actively looking for it.  When your attention's focused on a target your brain completely filters out that blur.
