the pins go out the same way the brass eject.  easiest way to remember it.

Or measure the ends of the pins. Smack on the small end to remove.

This is a good idea.  I've had a couple that were backwards.  Which royally sucks after you mushroomed the head because they were super soft to boot!

yeah you can assume that any factory installed FSB would be installed correctly.

I came up with the smack the small end thing after I completely fuckered messed up a CMMG FSB trying to remove the pins from the wrong side. Ended up drilling.

I had ASS-U-M'ed they were put in right.

Never tried a CMMG barrel but will keep in mind if I work on one.   Have used their lowers.  One of my three J&T's has straight pins in the FSB.  Won't change until a problem occurs.  The carbine that has those in it is a real fine shooter but so are the other two and as they don't take a licking probably will easily outlast me.

I always used the direction the takedown pins came out as my way to remember
