My build is nearing it's completion.  All it need is the gas block/FSB put in the proper spot and tightened.  I read that the gas block should be 1/32" from the shoulder of the barrel when not using the end cap that holds the hand guards in place.  If my math is correct, 1/32' is 0.03125 inches.  This might be a stupid question but how accurate does that distance have to be?  I don't own calipers but I do have a feeler gauge set.  With my feeler gauge I can get a gap of 0.031.  Is that close enough for rock and roll or should I invest in some calipers?  Or is than another way.  Thanks in advance for any help.  Here's a picture.

Yes thats fine. The hole in the gasblock is larger than the hole in the barrel to give yoiu some room to play with. GTG.

Ideally you want the two holes centered.  You do have some lee way.  Get it off center and you'll have FTF
