Hi and Happy Holidays!
I purchased a Troy steel gas block. My question is the gas tube hole is open in the front of the gas Block? I called Troy they said the roll pin stops Passing gas out the front? I have never seen a gasblock that the tube hole did not terminate in the block. I have a JP ADJ. GB on another rifle and another w standard front sight. Won't this opening be a problem like With dirt getting in the open gas tube on a bad day....? Thanx All! |
| Doesn't the tube that goes in to the gas block have a sealed end on it? That should prevent anything that you wouldn't want getting in the gas tube from getting in to it. If the tube wasn't sealed at the end, I don't know what would prevent the pressure from just blowing out the front of the gun rather than moving the bcg backwards. |

Mike, that's what I thought....
Troy Industries makes good parts, I love my Troy BUIS. And the push button Sling attachment that fits over the castle nut. I even called and spoke with the Tech people at Troy, he said the retaining roll pin stops the gas from exiting the front. Thanks to All for making me feel settled. I had my Barrel Cerakoted and the 1st gas block was a Brownells and it did not fit, even after sanding inside. I will have to sand off the Cerakote top Layer to fit any gas block, cause this one stops halfway into place, just pushing the GB to that point got it stuck. ( I did have the set screws taken out so that's not it) Took a mallet to knock it free. Maybe the Cerakote is thicker then normal? |
