I just ordered a SI Defense Gen. II ,billet upper for my 308 build(on sale ). I have been pondering there first gen. for quite a while ,but was not crazy about the price . I wanted to go with a billet upper to match my CMMG billet lower I have .
Not sure if I need or will use the extra rail on the side ,but what the hell . Good looking upper , I like the looks of the SID. uppers compared to others , will see how the two match up . Now all I need is a BCG & I have 308 #2 done .Seems to take longer than the first one. |

The lack of forward assist did make me think twice ,but in my experience , I really have not needed one . The price of the Gen. II was only $ 224 with shipping . For a Billet upper , that's not bad.There first Gen. is kinda on the high side ,but really looks good . When it arrives ,I will post photo's .IT said on the sight 1-2 weeks . We shall see. |
| I read a thread somewhere on the forums that their forged lowers (AR-15 not .308) were not in spec, and many where having problems with them. I hope it works out well for you. They have a bunch of $50 uppers (AR-15) that I wanted to try but those that have tried them have not had favorable reviews. Maybe it was a bad batch. They sure do look great though! |

They were talking about the forged AR 15 uppers. Since this is Billet & it looks like they know what they are doing. I just got a reschedule from UPS , probably because of the weather , won't get here till Thursday the 14th. That's the longest I have ever waited just for an item shipped. Hell ,its even cold down herein the sun shine state ( for Fl. ) I'm sure Global warming has some thing to do with it , right , AG. ,Bastidges! |
| Got the upper last night . Photos will follow . Nicely made upper ,I'm no machinist , but it looks well made , a little heavier than my DPMS upper of course . Has a little side play when pined to my CMMG lower ,but no up or down play or back /forward. Will try my DPMS BCG in it to see how it fits . Believe I will remove the extra rail on the side, not sure I will have a use for it ,never know though . Nice looking upper ,very smooth , not sure if that's the right word ,blends together ,sturdy feel , nice job SI Defence ,IMO. |
