OK so I am trying to get the bolt apart to check headspace and I can't get the pin out that holds the ejector in.  Got the extractor off, but I am stuck.  I have been beating this thing for a while and it's even bending my punch.  WTF

Any suggestions?

Thanks

About the only safe way I know to do it is by depressing the ejector into the bolt, which allows the pin to be pressed out.  There's a jig/tool built for this.

I've done it before by cutting an empty shell casing short (about 1/2") and squeezing the bolt between a block of wood at the bolt tail and the cut off case at the lugs in a vice.

You have to be careful/gentle, and pounding on the bolt pin will launch the bolt across the room.

ETA: I recommend putting a block of wood under the bolt, but not squeezed in the vice.  I rest the block on the bottom of the vice, lay the bolt on the block, the squeeze the above mentioned way.  This way you can push down on the pin, and the block supports the bolt.
