| if this repeats, forgive me. clicked submit button didn`t work. looking for good ar scope. been shooting A2 irons in private non-sanctioned matches for some time but now i want to put a good optic on an A3 flattop i just got. must be tough( shoot the occasional f/a in these matches) and clear optics. trijicon acog is out. too much money for me. don`t want to spend a fortune but i don`t want junk either. we only shoot from 300yds. and in. only interested in cross-hair type scopes. thanks! |
| Check out the Leupold Mark AR with the bullet drop recticle for 5.56 XM193 ammo. It is available in several ranges of magnification with a mil dot as optional. I have the 3 x 9 mil dot version and couldnt be happier with it. ACOG's are the shit, but they are way overpriced IMHO. |

I've read where it is marked for a BDC then others have said it is 1/2 MOA. Figured I'd ask someone who has one. engraving around the knob. It'll show you where you should be, click-wise, for a certain range. CHRIS |

Weaver V3 in LaRue SPR mount wouldn't be a bad starting point.
I like the Bushnell 4200 Elite 1.25-4X optic, again, in LaRue mount. Leupold Mk AR wouldn't be a bad choice either. Leupold VK3 1.5-5X is a great optic for the money Trijicon Accupoint TR-24 would be awesome too There is a lot out there, you need to decide: A. Do you need a true 1X vs. 1.5X low magnification setting B. Price |

I have pretty much preferred Leupold my entire life. How come we don't hear much about these 2 scopes in this forum and others? |
| hey guys, i started this post. i appreciate the info but maybe some did not read it completely. the trijicon scope or anything near that price is too much money. i just want an all-around good scope that still can take the punishment of some f/a fire but i don`t want to spend over 3-4 hundred dollars. that might be asking too much but thats what i`m looking for. as for the shooting, its just for informal matches with friends with targets out to 500yds. red dots or the like, are out. would like mil.dot hairs or the like. |
| Does size matter? lol....Weight? There really is a wide range of things to consider. I'm using a Leupy vx 3 with illuminated circle dot 1.5-5x, and I really dig this scope. Great prices on these right now. For me length & weight played a big part. I also have a weaver v3 1-3x and it has performed much better than its price tag shows. The 3x limits long shots, but it is about the only scope I would recommend in its price range. In between those two are tons of great scopes, and there's tons more for much more. Good luck! |

I'll second taking a look at Vortex. They also have some new stuff coming out soon. I'm not to sure about the F/A with a scope, but they do have a great warranty. |
| i did look at vortex and i`m leaning that way. leupold mark series too. warranty is excellent on both. reason i`m being cheap on the scope is the wife all but disowned me buying my class3 a while ago LOL, love to buy a trijicon( i know they can take the pounding) thats what i`m worried about the most. hate to buy an expensive scope and have it ruined with the occasional f/a i`ll be doing. |

Wouldn't you want a better built scope then, if you are worried about it holding up. Get quality and it will stand up. If you buy cheap and keep breaking them and buying, you will spend more than just getting the better scope in the beginning. |
It's typical ARFcom fashion to recommend $1000 scopes on a $300 budget
But seriously, here are my suggestions: Weaver 1-3x20 Leupold VXII 1-4x20.....I actually own this model currently Burris FullField or Timberline series.....have one currently (FF 2), rivals my VX-II in terms of optical quality Weaver Classic Extreme 1.5-4.5.....have this one too.....awesome scope, very heavy, hard to find since discontinued I'll be one of the relatively few that thinks the DMS-1 is crap, YMMV. Good luck |

Vortex is good stuff and good people SHOT 2010 coming up and it looks like some seriously interesting new higher level products are on the agenda ... |

Dude, if your budget is 3-400, Vortex could set you up with a rockin' scope. One of their top of the line models (the Viper) can be had for anywhere from 320-500+, depending on the particular model you get. Right now they're offering a 50$ rebate on the at model too; that's nothing to sneeze at. Just be sure to let us know what you decide on |
