Bought a buffer from Ken Elmore at the gun show today. It's marked with only a red "3". I would assume,  considering the source,  that this is a Colt H3 buffer,  but haven't seen them marked like this.  Any input?

I seem to recall a post where not all the Colt buffers were marked. Although with a gun show you never can tell. I buy all mine from BCM

My H3 buffers are marked H3

But they aren't specifically called out as colt

And I wouldn't trust anything from a gunshow.

Best way to tell is to weigh it. If it is a h3 it should be a little over 5 oz.

This, or drive the roll pin out and check out the weights inside of it.

I don't trust gun shows but Ken and SAW are well-known rretailers  of Colt parts

Probably just a carbine buffer body, which are unstamped, with the correct weights put in, and then labeled.

Drive the pin out and check that it has the correct weights.
