I bought an MOE mid length handguard a few weeks ago and had the shop guy install it. My question is, did he install it right?

My concern is there is a small nub on the front of the bottom half of the handguard.. does that go on the inside or outside of the handguard cap?

like so?

Sorry if this is a completely obvious thing.. this is my first ar build so I am still a bit clueless on them :)

Thanks!

Looks good to me.

Is that a triangular HG cap? Looks to me like a triangular one goes where it is now and a round HG cap would go around the outside of that "lip".
Pure speculation of course.

yeah it's triangular
seems to fit pretty snug on mine =/ not so easy as I've seen in videos of other people installing one. (I'm even using the removal tool)

hows this look?

There seems to be a slight gap near the delta ring, like it isn't lining up as tight. is it good to go?

Some times on after market handguards I find the delta ring does not seat all the way forward. Usually do to a tight fit, which I want. I use a small rubber mallet and tap the delta ring into place. Don't force it.

You're good to go, it's installed correctly. That nub goes outside on a triangular cap, and there's no need to use a mallet on the D ring - you want the spring pressure on it and tapping it all the way forward would actually be counter productive.

I'm with KB, I've seen round and triangular front handguard caps.
