I was curious if you can change out a handguard like one of these from RRA http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=7&f=22&t=257039 and install a tactical weaver rail. I have not seen any other posts on this. I am looking for a 18-20 stainless bull barrel for my next build. Thanks for any help, super01

eta I am looking at the ones down the page a bit, they are circular steel version.

Yes you can, but there are probably easier ways of doing it with different products.

It looks like your talking about a Free Float Forearm, from what i can tell from those pictures, that is just a solid aluminum tube.  It will probably require you take the barrel off, maybe even the FSB, and using the special barrel nut that comes with that FF Forearm.  Somewhere in between I guess you plan on drilling the forearm and screwing on weaver rails, hoping you get them straight and properly spaced?

Why NOT just get one of these:

They snap right into the hand guard mounts, yea NOT as solid as a true FF Forearm, but a lot cheaper and easier to install.  As well, consider spending a little more and get the proper tactical FF forearm instead of trying to improvise one on your own.

The new Troy TRX Extreme BattleRail will be out soon, perhaps that is what your looking for, it comes with several rails that you can attach at any point.  They attach the regular barrel nut, just have to cut off the Delta Pack with a dremel.  You may have to remove the FSB to get it over it.

I'm on back-order waiting for the regular Troy TRX Battle Rail.
