just a question I'm sitting here thinking about loading 5.56 spec loads for my ar, in the past I always just used 223 data and 223 casings, but say you want to load 556 casings, and say 5.56 loads, do you have to use 5.56 data for 5.56 mil spec cases and do you have to use 556 mil spec cases for 5.56 loads can commercial 223 brass be used to load 5.56?? is there anything different in sizing the brass?? does 556 use a different size die than 223??  I have a 223 wylde barrel on my ar, and I also have a 223 single shot rifle, and can I use 5.56 mil spec brass to load 223 loads for my 223 rifle?

Just load what ever powder, bullets, cases  to get the velocity and accuracy you want. You will need the #41 primers though.

There is a reloading forum here that has very knowledgable posters, as well as a lot of great stickies threads.

Cases for 5.56 are no different. For the most part people do not reload to 5.56 pressures.

If you are interested in learning a lot check it out.
