local guy has a 180 rounds of 7.62X51 with a headstamp FNM 83-19.

can someone give me some info on this ammo...i assume 83 is the manufacture date.  is it corrosive? anyone know the bullet weight?

sorry, but i don't know much about .308...just want to fatten up my stash for my bolt gun.  fwiw, he'll trade me round for round for 62 grain wolf.  deal?

-matt

That is Portuguese.    I would rather have 25 year old Port then new Wolf, even if the same caliber.  But you are giving him 5.56 and getting 308, right?  Do it before he changes his mind!

I memory serves, it's a 147-grain bullet. However, it may be a steel jacket with a copper coating on it, so be aware of them -- some ranges don't allow it to be used. It's some of the better surplus 7.62x51, too.
