i may buy my first AR today and am chosing between two A3's; Bushmaster and Olympic arms. I know bushmaster is trusted but the olympic arms comes with quad rails already.  is it worth going for the olympic arms?
bushmaster: $960
olympic: $990

-thanks in advance

Bushmaster.

You can add on the quadrail later ... PLUS, you can get to choose your own type / brand of rail.

wow, there seems to be a pretty stable consensus on the bushmaster. hmmmm.

let me ask a better question:

i want 16" barrel, flattop receiver w/ removable carry handle, colapsable stock, and would like quad rails (but i can do that later).  What manufacturer and model do you guys reccommend?

The guys here on the board usually use the ABC as their first choice - Armalite, Bushmaster & Colt. This is the top of the food chain.

Next on the list in terms of popularity come Rock River Arms, Stag, Olympic Arms (not necessarily in that order). These are considered the "best value for money" brands.

That Bushmaster is a fine choice.

You do not need the quad rails right away. I would wait and add the quad rails later. There are many many better options for quad rails than what comes on the Oly, and there are more and more free floated quad rails that you can install yourself without having to remove the front sight (though you could also do that yourself).

$990 for an Oly with a rail is a ripoff. You can get one from atlanticfirearms.com for over $100 less. Still I would strongly recommend the Bushy although the price you got on the Bushy is high too. Here is the Bushy for $100 cheaper.

Colt 6920
Bushmaster Super-Light-Weight
Bushmaster Patrolman/16" M4 type (it's called the Patrolman in the LEO line the 16" M4 in the civi line)
Stag M4 type

Then add whatever rails you prefer.

I would go with the Bushmaster.

For rails I would get Midwest Industries 2 piece

Cool, you're one of the first.  That makes you a pioneer.

Now go out and shoot the thing and tell us how you like it!

Then head to Lakeland and take a training class or two.
