Hi, I need help on what height of sights to buy. I have a ar15 I built using a flat top 14inch rail and a flat top upper receiver. So they are both inline with each other. I want to buy a good set of iron sights and while I am still unsure of which brand I do know I would like a quality set that will last a life time lol. I have looked at the magpul pros, samson and diamond heads. But before I drop a dime I want to make sure they will work. I wont be using them with a red dot or anything but I will be using a scope after I save for the right one. I see stuff like hk and a2. I know a2 is the same height as a a2 front gas block. I also know some sights are made to work with a front gas block but as I said my rail is all the same height. Can someone please help point me in the right direction. Thanks all

I use the magpul pro set and I really like them. They're solid and have really positive engagement when flipped up and down. Got them for $140, some might sell as high as $200 from what I remember seeing.

Troy also makes a great set for about $200. Some might also steer you away from Troy due to some of their more recent choices, but I say get what you want. Also check the EE section on the board. You can find some good prices and well taken care of gear there too.

Check YouTube for various site reviews as well as this forum and other online outlets. Good luck in your search, let us know what you end up getting!

But which ones work with a same height flat top rail? There are different kinds of front sights, some work with gas blocks and some dont. Thats the main issue I am having. I need to make sure I am buying the right ones. I have seen the magpuls pro and thought about them but after seeing how many people have brought them and then resold them on the e.e. makes me wonder. And when the person buys them or the e.e. and lists them back up for sell a week later then something is wrong. Its hard to buy something for so much money and you cant touch it, feel it or try it to see how they will look. But thanks for the reply but really need the biggest question answered.  Plus I saw where it says the magpul pro front does work with rail height gas blocks so I do know they will work now but I kind of want something a little nicer. But I guess in the end cost might win. Shame I just saw the mag on sale at psa for 125.

You mention you've built a flat top. I assume, to make sure the verbiage is correct, that the rail pattern on your upper is the same all the way down the end of the hand rail.(called picitiny rail) Along the top. Hence, flat top.

If that is the case, then you're going to want both a front and rear sight that attach to a picitiny style rail. The magpuls will, as well as the similar offering from Troy. However, there are handfuls of companies that offer these.

With the set up you have, most any set of sights made for AR's will work.  If you're going to be running fixed sights for a while, take a look at Daniel Defense...

Something nicer? The magpul pro sights are in my opinion one of the nicest sets of sets on the planet behind the knights and dd1.5 and the carry handle.

Magpul PRO are just fine, don't overthink it.

Get the KAC if you want the best.

The Spikes billet are sweet.  I have those as well.

I am very impressed with the Magpul MBUS Pro's. They are a little more budget friendly (I paid about 160) and they are very sturdy yet a very slick profile. I bought them just thinking if I didn't like them I wasn't out too much but I would buy them for future builds.

Edit: Added photos of said sights.

Sorry for my ignorance to terminology lol. Yes my rail is flat from the front to rear. Sorry if I am not getting my question across correctly as well. I noticed some front sights like troys are for front gas block height and some front sights are for flat top from front to back making them the same height. Some sights are micos making them shorter in height. Which I really like the spike micros. I see sights on the e.e and worry if I buy the wrong height front sights I am screwed. And I would much rather buy a set of sights from a member here then buy from a dealer. Just how I am. The 1st ar I built here since joining this site came from the e.e. my latest ar15 is also a complete e.e. built rifle. Again sorry if what I am asking is worded wrong or not making sense

I think I understand the question. You can use anything but the gas block height front sights. The gas block hight front sight is just taller to compensate for the gas block.
