Any words of wisdom in selecting between these: TA11/TA11F donut or chevron reticle 3.5x35mm or TA31/TA31F donut or chevron reticle 4x32mm thanks me |

Of the two, the TA11 is the preferred optic for 3Gun competitors, for whatever that tells you. I was at SMM3G last week and saw many TA11's, but no TA31's.. 'course there were 300 people there, could have missed it. The winner of Tactical Taran Butler shot a TA11 with Chevron. For the TA11 vs. TA31: the TA11 has more eye relief at 2.4", which is nice if you wear glasses or goggles. It is especially nice because head/scope alignment is not critical. There is a pretty wide area behind the scope where you can still see through it. This is useful when shooting from nonstandard or awkward positions. I have found the TA31/TA01 to require a much more precise eye position behind the scope to get a good view through it. The TA11 has a slightly narrower field of view than the TA31. But this allows less of *your* field of view to be the scope. In other words, you can more easily maintain awareness of what's going on, besides what you can see in the scope. I believe this also makes the BAC work better. Chevron vs. donut. Your call. I like the donut because it has more elevation aiming points: top outside = 100y; top inside = 200y; bottom inside = 300y; follow stadia from 400y on out. -z |
