I bought 2 of the Century Arms C-15's. They are Century lowers built with all Colt parts. How much side to side between upper and lower should one expect? I can hold it up by the carry handle and slide a dollar bill between the upper and lower. Im just wonderign if this kind of slop after shooting for awhile will eventually start to oblong the holes in the receiver from the pins chucking. Maybe they are all like this I dont know, have handled some Stag's and a couple Bushmasters and dont remember them being almost loose like this but never paid as close attention as I did on these. Talked to my father in law a vet of three wars and he says hes seen some M16's that looked like they would fall apart first shot hold some damn fine groups. Any suggestions? Should I return them before shooting? Anyway to tighten these up with limited funds and skills.

I have AR's that fit so tight there is zero play between recievers and the take down pins are damn tough to depress without tools. Others have tons of play and rattle a bit.

When I first started with AR's I though tighter was better....even bought one of those rubber 'accurizer' things that is supposed to tighten up the fit.

Lots of brass later, the truth.....loose is just fine....and easier to take down quickly.

You shouldnt be able to wiggle the entire upper side to side visibly, but a little play is fine...thats pretty much how the weapon was designed.

Tight is nice (but its mostly psychological)...and if you are going to make it into a bench rifle that you only shoot groups with, then go for it...wedge it up and crank that takedown pin in.....but honestly, just shoot the rifle and see how it performs.

I'll bet that even with a little rattle the rifle shoots straighter then you will need.

Enjoy
