I need help identifying a front sight base that I suspect it is a retro part.   There are no markings so the best way I can describe it is that the bayo lug has been ground off, the front and back of the a-frame is flat and smooth, and the most interesting part is that the "UP" marking on top is raised instead of being engraved or stamped.   Anything special here?

Pics would be nice. In their absence it sounds like a cast FSB.  If the ID of the FSB measures 0.625," then it is probably one of the older retro FSB's.  If it measures 0.750, it is probably an Oly cast FSB.

Oly had both .625 and .750 cast fsb's available...they stopped carrying the .625 just a couple of years ago

any that they made during the ban era would be missing the bayo lug

Look for a drain hole below the front sight post.  If present, it's modern.
