Hello.

I'm trying to change out a barrel on a RRA varmint upper and I'm having trouble getting out the roll pin on the gas block. I tried using a 1/16 punch all it does is wedge down into the inside of the roll pin. a 5/64 drill bit is too big. Any suggestions?

You do mean the roll-pin for the gas tube right?  The best solution is to get a set of roll-pin punches.  They have a small nipple that helps prevent the roll pin from getting deformed and makes it easier to install and remove roll pins.

My set is from Sears....

My local Sears has them as well...  You can also get them at other places if you look.

Definitely get the punches. I think mine were about $5 from Harbor Freight. They've paid for themselves MANY times over.

x3 for roll pin punches.

The hardware stores and Harbor Freight here in Colorado doesn't have them (they sell regular punches though).  I bought a set from Tool King on Saturday for about $10.  There is a difference and the little nipple on the end of the punch makes a huge difference.  I assembled a lower yesterday (less trigger group) in about 15 minutes tops.
