| How does the bushnell holosight compare to the eotech? I heard eotech makes them for bushnell. Are the aperatures the same? |
Both sights are made by EOtech. Reticles are the same and the two differences are waterproofed electronics and protective rollbar on the EOtech. Eiher are fine at the range. Duty use and combat-get the EOtech. |

Buddy of mine has the Holosight and loves it. Saved a few bucks over the EOTECH. Personally, I went with the EOTECH just because of the "roll cage". Why you ask? The answer is rdblan2's law. If I don't get the protective housing, the holosight will certainly bounce off some concrete and go all splattery. If I get the EOTECH, I will never drop it. Good thing my EOTECH will stay scratch free.

Seriously though, I have one Bushnell (out on loan to a friend at the moment) and four Eotechs (a 552 and the rest 512's). All work pretty much the same, same reticle, performance. I don't know how much the extra waterproofing on the Eotech will really help, I don't plan to go swimming with my rifles. If I were a soldier in combat, or a LEO who's rifle bounces around in the trunck of the car all day, I am sure the Eotech is a better choice. But for the rest of us, I doubt it would make a difference. What I DO like is the AA version of the Bushnell, which I have, and the AA Eotechs over the N battery versions. The far longer battery life, the use of lithium batteries, which are less likely to leak over time, and the fact that if in a bad situation, AA's of any kind (out of a Diskman, MiniMaglight, etc) are easier to scrounge, to me AA's are the way to go! |
