in looking at the picture of usmc03's green monster, i started thinking. if a rifle is not free floated from the beginning, how do you do it later on? if i were to want to do something like this to my rifle after it is completed, how would i do it? thanks.

Gotta remove the handguards, front sight, barrel nut(WITH barrel wrench - many posts here bemoaning their messed up barrel nut due to plier-usage)...from that point, it's just unscrewing nuts and reassembling.

I am in the middle of this process with my Colt, and I can tell you I do it with some trepidation...banging on my sub-MOA baby's front sight pins makes me mighty nervous...

Do a search and you'll find the methods here....
