First--welcome to the site.

Otherwise, what are your interests?  There is a ton of information on this site, as well as local events in most of the Hometown Forums (look up and right and then locate your state).  Give us an idea what you are interested in.

Thats my answer every time this question comes up.  People are on the worlds largest AR15 website, and there are tacked topics in every section.  Those are probably a good place to start, but just sitting back and reading posts is probably the best way to gain info.  Without sitting back and reading for awhile, much of the info given will be useless, or taken out of context.

If you are looking to buy a weapon, start looking through pictures and get a rough idea of what you like and dislike.  Find weapons in the picture thread, and IM or email people to ask them questions, you will find most people here are happy to talk about their pics and firearms.

Hi Pat.  There are many forums here to learn from.  This is the AR forum and you wont find a better place for accurate information on AR-15's and variants.  You might also try the other forums too.  If your looking to purchase an AR or other arms, check out the Equipment Exchange to get a great deal.  Welcome

When I got my first rifle, a good friend of mine told me to get an AR with a 16" barrel and to make sure it had an A3 upper (removable carry handle).  I had no idea what he was talking about but I said OK.  He was right.

Welcome to the site.

Welcome! Read, read, read! ?I agree with the other guys that it's the best thing you can do. Any idea of what kind of guns you're inetested in? Shotguns? Rifles? Handguns? What do you want to DO with it? The latter is probably the easiest starting point, and if you give it some thought it'll make things easier. For instance, if you want to shoot targets at 600 yards, maybe a nice bolt gun with a scope will suffice. Tactical shooting? How about an AR or AK. So on, and so on. One thing you'll hear a lot around this forum is "the mission defines the gear." Very true.

Anyway, welcome to the site, and most importantly to the gun world. Guns really are a great thing, though you're wallet will be considerably lighter from now on Remember when I asked you if you wanted a shotgun, a rifle, or a handgun? In 5-10 years you'll own at least 4 of each. The obsession only get worse with time......

Good Luck
