I was thinking about ordering a case of this to hold on to.  Right now is there anything else that compares to this for the price?  Also what is the difference between the stuff in the white box and the stuff in the brown boxes.  thanks....tried searching but didnt find the answers I was looking for.

I have both the IMI white and brown box M855.

Both are first quality 09 production, and the difference in box color seems just skin deep.  I'd take them over the XM855 being sold right now anyday.

You can't go wrong with the Wideners IMI. Buy it and save it, for that matter buy all you can,... years from now you'll wish you had bought more.

Preliminary Accuracy Test Results for IMI M855 2009

The M855 load has a heavy collet crimp at the case mouth.

The bullet has a cannelure and the case mouth is sealed with asphalt sealant.

The new bullets lack the green painted tip of the older lots.

The primer pockets are sealed and crimped.

The round is charged with ball powder.

A very informal accuracy test of the new IMI M855 (lot #00219/K) produced the following results.  The test vehicle was a free-floated Colt 6721 (chrome lined, NATO chambered, 1:9” twist) topped with a Trijicon TR24 set at 4X magnification.  The tip of the green triangle reticle was used as the aiming point.  Shooting was done off a bipod from a distance of 50 yards.

Prior to firing the M855, I fired a 10-shot group of hand-loaded Hornady 55 grain FMJs.  This control group had an extreme spread of 1.5 MOA.

Next, I fired a few “re-fouling” rounds of the M855.  Lastly, a 10-shot group of the IMI M855 was fired.  That group had an extreme spread of 2.24 MOA.

Previous accuracy testing of the older lots of IMI M855 produced the following results.

Accuracy testing was performed using a free-floated 20" Colt HBAR. The barrel has a 1:7" twist, NATO chamber and is chrome lined. Accuracy testing was conducted from a distance of 100 yards shooting from a bench-rest. A 10-shot control-group fired from this barrel using 55 grain Sierra BlitzKings and had an extreme spread of 1.17". Three 10-shot groups of the IMI M855 were fired in a row with the following extreme spreads:

2.14"
3.01"
1.71"

for a 10-shot group average extreme of 2.29".
