Just got a new upper and it came with a double heat shield M4 handguards. How do I install them and do i need any special tools? thanks

There is a sticky in the Build It Yourself part of AR15 that describes this.
Basically, you stand the AR on the buttstock with the barrel pointing up. Then, either use a handy handguard install tool to lever down the delta ring, or you use one strong hand to pull the delta ring down. With your other hand push the forward lip of the handguard under the metal clip behind the front sight.and wiggle the rear end of the handguard above the delt ring. Repeat for the other handguard. The handguards should be identical, so either one can go on the top, and the other on the bottom half. |
