got a bushmaster upper and man is hte firing pin thing open, is this normal? ive only delt with RRA and its no where near as open

Yes its normal. The RRA is "enhanced" with more metal over the firing pin.

My Bushmaster carrier looks like the one the left.

All of my AR's are Bushmaster's. The carrier from Bushmaster does vary between the two. BM sells either version.
