I'm looking at spr mounts for a Leup. 4.5x14 40mm vari-xiii and a trij tr21.

I'm wondering what the scope height with the spr mounts are for these 1" tubes.  (height either to base of tube, or to centerline of scope tube.)

Larue got back to me with the info... should have posted an update

Our SPR mounts vary in height by model, and the heights of the centerline of the optic above the top of the rail are as follows:

LT104-1.5”

LT135-1.93”

LT139-1.5”

LT158-1.44”

THOSE ARE THE HEIGHTS WITH 30MM RINGS. YOU MUST NOT HAVE TOLD THEM YOU WERE USING A 1" SCOPE. THE BASE IS THE SAME WITH BOTH THE LT104-1" AND LT104-30MM. THE RING SIZE MAKES THE SCOPE AXIS HEIGHT A LITTLE DIFFERENT.

WITH 1" RINGS, YOUR SCOPE IN THE LT104 ENDS UP LOWER:

30MM MINUS ONE INCH EQUALS 0.18".

0.18" DIVIDED BY TWO EQUALS 0.09".

1.5" MINUS 0.09" EQUALS 1.41".

THE AXIS OF YOUR SCOPE IN AN LT104 (OR THE LT139 - SAME DEAL) WITH 1" RINGS WILL BE 1.41".

FOR COMPARISON'S SAKE, YOUR IRON SIGHTS ARE ALSO 1.41" ABOVE THE FLAT TOP. GOING SUBTLY HIGHER WORKS FINE, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE A BIG MELON OF A HEAD LIKE ME. BUT, IT IS UNDESIRABLE TO GO LOWER.

AN AWFUL LOT OF THOUGHTFUL ENGINEERING WENT INTO THE DESIGN OF THE LT104.

You know, I know everyone goes for the spr-e for the tr-21...  but in looking at pics of scopes on guns, it almost looks like it's overkill for what i need.   Compared to the 104, it's a lot of unsupported metal under the scope compared to the 104.

Will a 104 cut it for an spr-e?

Is it worth worrying about the unsupported metal of the spr-e? (yeah, I know this thing is built like a brick poop-house, but I figured I'd ask).

WITH THE TR-21, YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE EXTENDED EYE RELIEF ONLY OFFERED BY THE SPR-E MOUNT. THERE IS NO ALTERNATIVE.
