ok i have the lasermax unimax laser and i currently have it mounted on a add on bottom rail on my stock handguard... i will be purchasing a surefire m73 very soon but heres the dilemma... i want this laser to be as accurate as possible for the biggest range possible.. where i have it right now.... its too far away from the barrel to remain accurate for a big distance.. where would be the best place for me to mount this thing so that it can be as close to the barrel as possible?? thanks |
| I'm no expert on this, but laser application on a rail system will put the beam at the same POA to POI on the target no matter which one of the four rails you mount it on. Looking at my upper the rails are the same distance around the diameter around the barrel. All laser systems I've deployed on a rail are at least 1/2 out. Just depends on what use I guess. |
| Just a thought: How far out can you see the laser? If it gets to the point that you need optics to see your laser, you don't really need one. So focus out to your visual limit with the beam and set your POA there. Any difference between that and any up close shooting will be minimal, right? Let us know how it turns out! |
| I thought the point of a laser wasn't really for far out shooting? I thought it was for quick aiming in a CQB situation? I'm a noob, but from a physics standpoint, I feel like since a laser beam is perfectly strait, and the trajectory of a bullet isn't, it wouldn't be very useful for pinpoint accuracy at anything mroe than 2 distances. One at the upward trajectory and one at the down. |
very true.. i was just being OCD about it being accurate |
