[ARCHIVED THREAD] - light mount idea

how bad is this idea? i was thinking of takeing a surefire 6P and mounting it on my rail by using a burris signature weaver style scope ring. i was thinking of the signature ring because it has the plastic inserts so it doesn't deface the light. i alos thought about the QD ring. I'm having a hard time justifying a larue mount since i will not be taking it on and off.

Nothing wrong with that. I used at one time:

Surefire G2
1” Weaver Ring
YHM Mount

That is a time tested way to mount a light. Will work just fine.

I also have a surefire mounted on a rifle with two cheap weaver rings. Works fine. I wouldn't worry much about scratching the surefire tube though - flashlights get wear marks in normal use anyway.

Weaver 1" ring(s) work great.

That is until LaRue MAKES A NON-OFFSET QD MOUNT FOR A 6P/CLASSIC!!!
