If you get yourself a new buffer tube that came with a spring. The buffer tube gets installed, and you can hear the spring sliding up and down in the tube.
I assume this would mean the buffer spring is too short? Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |
| I guess I'm a little confused, the spring is so long it's not really possible to slide up or down in the tube. The coil diameter is of course going to be slightly smaller, it can wiggle around inside but once compressed it's fine, the tube keeps the rough cylinder form factor of the spring, but the spring in reality is going to be like an uneven wave when compressed. |

I'm not really sure of the question also..
a carbine spring is "about" 10 1/2" and a rifle spring is "about" 12 1/2" a carbine buffer is about 3 1/4" and a rifle buffer about 6" make sure the buffer tube was shipped with the correct buffer and spring some people hear a "sproing" with their rifles, ... with a little lube, I don't hear much |

You would think if it came with the tube it should be perfect but besides that the fact that the spring has 0 tension (enabling it to move inside) makes no sense at all unless I am mis reading.

Try to get a spikes tactical st-t2 buffer and see if you can still hear some rattling sound inside your buffer tube. |

It is a carbine buffer. I can hear what sounds like the buffer and the spring sliding back and fourth inside the tube if I tilt the lower up and down. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile Yes those are the wieghts inside the buffer sliding up and down as you tilt your lower in those directions. They make noise as they bump each other. As earlier suggested try the Spike's buffer. They don't have those metal weights inside but metal powder stuff which don't make noise like that. |

You are hearing the guts of the buffer itself sliding back and forth. How does the rifle shoot? http://quib.weaponevolution.com/Buffer%202%20800X600.JPG I have not yet shot, I'm still building it. |
