| What makers build parts to mil spec as far as finish and material. I don't need auto parts I'm NOT building and auto gun. I my goal is is to have a semi auto with parts that are as reliable as possible. Since the government has certain standards that makers are required to build too, i.e. MPI and certain finishes, should be more reliable. My question is what makers build parts to mil spec. I know colt's civilian ar's are very close. But there parts are just to expensive with so good alternatives out there. So what manfact.'s lower kit is as close to what would be in a GI rifle as far as fit and finish wise. Again, I'm not building an auto rifle, my question goes to the quality end of it. Also a kit thats readily for sale. Thanks. |

Nothing magic about mil spec. It's as much about standardization as it is about quality.
The question isn't really mil spec, it's how close the mfgrs adhere to mil spec. There's no inspection, nor is there any enforcement. A company might make a number of unfortunate choices relative to materials and precision and still feel that it's ok to lable their stuff mil spec. |
