| what is the difference from the color of the follower gray, orange, and etc......thanks |
Black-original mag follower Green-standard USGI enhanced mag follower Brown-Gen I Magpul anti-tilt followers Gray/Orange-improved Gen II Magpul anti-tilt followers The Magpul followers increase mag reliability. All my mags have Gen II. Might as well. But the green ones are fine, too. |

Grey are the "1st generation" or original design of followers. This later on evolved into green (i believe to make a distinction) which is the newer design and is "anti-tilt". magpul then came out with it's "1st generation" anti-tilt followers which is colored black or brown. Thet then improved on this design with a "2nd generation" which is colored orange. |
| Actually I thought MagPul came out with a very pretty hot pink prototype follower followed by the brown. I thought they then came out with the grey and a reddish orange but changed the reddish color to the high vis orange you see today. So in essence the grey and the orange are second gen. |
Yeah. The pink ones were prototype Gen I. Brown ones ARE Gen I. Magpul, awesome company that they are, cranked out the grey Gen IIs after people said they wanted an alternative (more tacticool I guess) to the original red color Gen IIs. Now there's orange. Red, grey, orange, they're all the same except for color. |
| you know, everybody's got their own favorite magazine. some suckers even drop $50 bucks or more on hk mags. wouldn't be surprised if some folks didn't sprinkle holy water on their mags or wave burning sage at 'em. i realize, too that the magazine is - statistically - the most failure prone component of a self loading firearm. that said, with all the clamoring about what mag works best and debate over aluminum or steel or *gasp* polymer and the chittering about follower colors (does this green follower make me look fat), you'd think there would be some massive difference in reliability. maybe there is but in my experience my equipment either works 100% or it doesn't. in the case of magazines, i have never had a problem with any usgi magazine in good condition, regardless of the type of follower or the manufacturer. so can someone please tell me how i can achieve better than 100% reliability? |
