I have a couple of carbine buffers laying around and I was wondering if it's possible to take them both  apart  and take some of the weights from the one and put it in the other to create an H buffer.

I've never done it, but I've read where  some have.  My understanding is that the balls are just switched to some other material, tungston?
My H buffer has tungston powder in it, so they say.  Let use know how it works.

you need to replace one steel weight in the carbine buffer with a tungsten weight, so no, you can't do it if all you have is carbine buffers.

thanks guys, I just went ahead and ordered one from Bravo. Usually when I come up with one of these ideas it doesn't end as planned, can't get things to work out as planned and I usually end up wreaking a perfectly good part.

There's a guy on here, I think his username is SLASH, who sells heavy buffers and Tungsten weights.

Good guy, knowledgeable, and easy to do business with

Yes.

I bought the tungsten weights from Slash and converted my carbine buffers to H or H2 as needed.

Reading about using tungsten powder gave me an idea. Has anyone tried filling a buffer with lead shot?

That's how the cheesy knockoffs with plastic bodies were made in the 80s.
